Taylor County adds 76 cases and 37 recoveries on Wednesday



The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District reported 76 new cases of COVID-19 and 37 recoveries on Wednesday.

Of the new cases, 14 were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction tests.

Active cases total 1,337 (514 PCR cases and 823 based on antigen testing), up from 961 reported a week ago.

Hendrick Health reported 84 COVID-19 hospital patients at its three hospitals on Tuesday, a decrease from the 92 reported on Monday. The breakdown for Tuesday’s tally was 72 at hospitals in Abilene and 12 at Brownwood facility.

Of all Hendrick COVID-19 hospital patients, 95.24% are not fully immunized. Of coronavirus patients in intensive care, 99% are not fully immunized.

The percentage of COVID-19 hospital patients in the Abilene trauma service area was 12.65% on Tuesday, compared to 15.15% on Monday and 15.10% on Sunday, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The Abilene Trauma Service Area in all 16 counties reported 114 COVID-19 hospital patients on Wednesday, according to the state’s website, up from 130 on Monday.
