Taylor County adds 3 deaths and 69 new cases on Friday

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District reported three COVID-19-related deaths, 69 new cases and 111 recoveries on Friday.
The total number of deaths in the county linked to the coronavirus is 477.
Of the 69 new cases, 23 were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction tests.
Active cases total 2,099 (665 PCR cases and 1,434 confirmed by antigenic test). A week ago, there were 2,455 active cases.
Hendrick Health on Thursday reported 77 COVID patients hospitalized at its three hospitals, including 28 in intensive care. A day earlier, there were 83 COVID-19 hospital patients in total, including 30 in intensive care.
The breakdown by facility Thursday was 62 inpatients in Abilene hospitals (28 in intensive care) and 15 in Brownwood hospital (eight in intensive care).
Of the 77 Hendrick COVID-19 hospital patients, 56 were not fully immunized, while 22 of 28 intensive care patients were not fully immunized.
The percentage of COVID-19 hospital patients in the Abilene trauma ward area was 9.98% on Thursday, compared to 10.47% on Wednesday and 11.08% on Tuesday, according to the Department’s COVID-19 database. ‘State of Texas.
The Abilene trauma service area, located in all 16 counties, had 98 COVID-19 hospital patients on Friday, the state reported.

Abilene ISD: Reported 27 new cases Thursday (26 students and one staff member), 10 more than Wednesday. New cases per campus: five students at Abilene High, two students at Mann Middle, one student at Madison Middle, five students at Purcell Elementary, four students at Taylor Elementary, three students at Ortiz Elementary, two students at Crockett, one student at Alcorta Elementary, a student at Austin Elementary, a student at Bassetti Elementary, a student at Dyess Elementary and a staff member at Bonham Elementary.
Active cases total 124 (103 students, 21 staff). As of June 14, the district has reported 976 cases (799 students, 177 staff).
Wylie ISD: Reported 10 new cases Thursday (nine students and one staff member), for a total of 32 active cases. These are two more active cases than those reported on Wednesday.
Active cases by campus: one student at West Intermediate, one student and staff member at East Junior High, four students at West Junior High, one student and staff member at West Elementary, six students at East Elementary, three students at West Early Childhood and 14 students at Wylie High.
Christian University of Abilene: No new cases reported Thursday for the third day in a row, with three active cases. There are 11 people in quarantine due to possible exposure. Among active cases, 66.7% were not vaccinated. The cumulative cases since August 17 total 146.
