Taylor County adds 1 death and 25 cases on Tuesday

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District reported COVID-19 data Tuesday, including 25 new cases and one death, bringing the county’s total pandemic death toll to 622.

Of the 25 new cases, four were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction tests.

Active cases on Tuesday totaled 1,452 (563 PCR cases and 889 based on antigen testing), up from 1,733 reported on Monday and 3,196 the previous week.

Hendrick Health reported 23 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 on Monday, eight of them in intensive care, compared to 34 patients hospitalized on Friday, including 10 in intensive care.

The breakdown by facility on Monday was 19 inpatients at Abilene hospitals (six in ICU) and four inpatients (two in ICU) at Brownwood Hospital.

Hendrick reported that 15 of those hospitalized were not fully vaccinated.

The percentage of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Abilene’s 16-county trauma service area fell to 3.88% on Monday, from 5.05% on Sunday and 5.21% on Saturday, according to the COVID-19 Database. 19 from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

As of Monday, the Abilene Trauma Service Area had 35 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, down nine from Sunday. In the past 24 hours, there have been two admissions of COVID-19 in the area, according to the state database.

SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Abilene ISD: Tuesday morning saw no new cases reported in the past 24 hours, with a total of 12 active cases (nine students, three staff), one more than Monday. Since Aug. 3, the district has reported 3,166 cases (2,291 students, 875 staff).

Wylie CIO: Reported no new cases on Tuesday, with five active cases.
