Shanghai records robust growth in business activities from January to September.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) – Shanghai has seen tremendous growth in the city’s business activities in the first three quarters of this year.
According to data released by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the city’s retail sales of consumer goods totaled 1.3 trillion yuan (about $ 207 billion) during the period, up 19.6 billion. % year on year and 14.1% compared to 2019 level.
In the first three quarters of this year, the value of Shanghai’s merchandise imports and exports totaled 2.9 trillion yuan, representing growth of 15.4 and 17.8 percent from the 2020 level and 2019 respectively.
Forty-seven regional headquarters of foreign-funded multinational companies were established in Shanghai during the period, bringing the city’s total number to 818. At the same time, 20 foreign-funded research and development centers were built, bringing the total to 818. from Shanghai to 501.
At a press conference on Friday, the Shanghai municipal government said the city’s better-than-expected performance in business activities has helped lay a solid foundation for the upcoming 4th edition of the China International Import. Expo (CIIE).
Nearly 3,000 companies from 127 countries and regions are expected at the 4th CIIE from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai.
