James Louis Runnels, 84, of Magee, Mississippi, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born on Thursday, November 25, 1937 in Smith County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.
A funeral service at the cemetery will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is making arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mr. James was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, stepfather, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed working, picking up cans, hunting deer and especially spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Johnny “Ringo” Runnels; father, Travis Runnels; mother, Mazie Vondell Maddox Runnels; four brothers, Fred Runnels, Travis Runnels, Curtis Runnels and Johnny Runnels; and a sister, Dora Mae Runnels Wilson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of forty years, Dorothy Hathron Runnels of Magee, MS; two sons, James Alfred Runnels and Johnny Alfred Runnels (Angie) both of Magee, MS; one son-in-law, Greg Evans (Gail) of Bassfield, MS; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Evans Runnels (Dewayne) of Collins, MS; three grandchildren, Chelsea Runnels of Magee, MS, Mathew Runnels (Samantha) of Seminary, MS, and Amanda Runnels Biehle (Chris) of Cincinnati, OH; four brothers, Jackie Runnels of Jackson, MS, Robert Runnels (Betty) of Morton, MS, Thomas Runnels of Pelahatchie, MS and Patrick Runnels (Barbara) of Jackson, MS; and a host of other family and friends.
