A lot on Palisade Avenue is the latest site in Jersey City where development could be in store.

The Jersey City municipal government has received plans from a Duncan Avenue-based company that calls for the construction of a five-story building at 216 Palisade Avenue.

The property, also known as 214-216 Palisade Avenue, is located in an area of The Heights near Christ Hospital which has several medical offices. In fact, over the years a number of medical offices have operated in the existing two-story building on the premises.

The proposal documents that have been released by the City of Jersey City are inconsistent regarding the number of residential units this development would include if completed.

An application and site plans indicate that there would be 22 residential units with a mix of studios, one bedroom units and two bedroom units. However, a statement of main points first states that 23 units are planned before presenting the project as a 24-unit development.

Inside the building would be four “moderate affordable housing units” and medical offices, depending on demand. The project would also include 24 parking spaces and a roof terrace.

This matter was originally scheduled to go to the Jersey City Zoning Adjustment Board on Jan. 13, but minutes show it was deferred to the next meeting on Thursday, Jan. 27.

Note to readers: The dates when applications are to be heard by the Jersey City Zoning Adjustment Board and other commissions are subject to change.
