Betty Middleton Parrish – Runnels County Register
Betty Middleton Parrish, devoted wife, mother and grandmother died on September 20, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 90.
Betty and her twin brother, Bill, were born on April 17, 1932, to Walter and Ruby Mae Middleton. On March 17, 1956, she married Ben Sims Parrish in Brownwood, TX. They celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage before her death in 2019. After graduating from Ballinger High School in 1949, Betty enrolled at Tarleton State College in Stephenville, TX. After graduating from Tarleton, she returned to Ballinger and was employed by Ray Fuqua Chevrolet in Ballinger and Middleton Chevrolet in Rowena. She was then employed by Ballinger ISD and retired in 2004 after 39 years of service.
She was predeceased by her husband Ben, her parents Walter and Ruby Mae (Palmer) Middleton and her brother Bill Middleton. Family members cherished by Betty’s memory are her two sons: Tommy (Lezlie) Parrish of Lubbock and Greg Parrish of Ballinger; his two granddaughters and his two great-granddaughters: Alyssa (Tyler) Richardson and his daughters Evelyn and Scarlett and Lexi (Brady) Ruth, all of Lubbock.
She is also survived by three dear cousins: Suzanne Price, Mary Jane Vineyard and Mary McMillan. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Brookdale Remington Park Assisted Living, Micah Lust, PA, Lubbock Family Medicine, and Interim HomeCare and Hospice of Lubbock for their loving care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made at the Carnegie Library in Ballinger or the West Texas Boys Ranch in San Angelo.
Private family burial services will be held at a later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ballinger, TX.
