Bell named Henderson County Player of the Year | Sports

The 2021 volleyball season once again had a lot of talent in consideration for the Athens Daily Review All Henderson County volleyball team.

After an impressive season with the Eustace Lady Bulldogs, junior Emma Bell is the player of the year among the region’s eight cover teams.

Bell was the district’s offensive player par excellence having recorded more than 300 kills, 38 aces, 149 points on her serve and more than 300 digs.

“She has been a leader on and off the pitch,” said Eustace coach Tosha Spain. “She has missed the last four games with a broken foot she sustained in a game and was named to the district academy team.”

Bell is the second consecutive Lady Bulldogs player to be named Player of the Year. Last year Rubi Bailey received this honor.

The remaining superlative awards went to Trinidad coach Tina Sawtelle as coach of the year, Cross Roads junior Alli Reynolds as offensive player of the year, second year Malakoff Katelyn McCoy as Defensive Player of the Year and Malakoff Rookie Hillary Dawson as Newcomer of the Year.
