Fans of Binibining Pilipinas No. 8 contender Herlene Nicole Budol of Angono Rizal turned out in force at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on Sunday, July 31, to cheer on their fellow Angono resident. who ended up first runner-up.
Tracy Pascual, from the Angono mayor’s office, who was among those who visited the Araneta center, said that apart from Budol’s family and relatives, her supporters include former government office colleagues Municipality of Angono; his manager, Wilbert Tolentino; members of the city’s Sangguniang Kabataan, teachers and others from the art capital and other towns in Rizal province.
Pascual, who was a colleague of Budol, said even Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon joined Budol supporters who traveled to the Big Dome not just to watch the show but to lend moral support to his fellow resident of ‘Angono.
Budol reached the top 12 in the annual Philippines beauty pageant at 11 p.m. last Sunday.
She was chosen earlier as the winner of the Manila Bulletin Reader’s Choice Award before the top 12 finalists were announced.
Budol supporters wore the custom orange t-shirt printed with the words “We Love Hipon Binibini 8 Herlene Nicole Budol For the Crown”.
Pascual said orange is the color of the shrimp or “Hipon” which is Budol’s nickname.
Aside from Budol, fellow Rizal resident Stacy Gabriel of Cainta, Rizal was among the top 12 finalists.
Budol also won several special awards before the big winners were announced.
